Special Olympics!!!!!!!!

Well we just returned from a magnificent trip down to Springfield to volunteer for the Special Olympics track meet. We took down 16 athletes and we helped with the running of the meet. We started out by escorting the athletes from the end of the race to the awards area. We then helped with the running of the relay events in the afternoon. Today we had some kids help with the standing long jump, softball throw, and timing of some more races.
I didn't really know what to expect and neither did our athletes, but we sure got our hearts full of love. I thought the experience was life changing. We meet so many wonderful athletes and their amazing smiles and stories. I think we each found a person that melted our hearts. For me it was probably Tommy or Justin. Tommy is an older gentleman that was running when we arrived and continued for another 6 miles. When he was done he was just a big bundle of joy. We talked and talked with him the entire day. Hopefully he will get to continue his journey to Nationals in Nebraska. As for Justin, he was a 19 year old that was blind, but he was the nicest kids you would ever want to meet. He ran the 50 meter run with a helper (and won), did the standing long jump and the softball toss. All that time I was in complete amazement. There were so many athletes that you couldn't help but give a high five and a big hug. I remember one athletes, unfortunately forgot his name but after his race I gave him a big high five and he came over and gave me the biggest hug. I am tearing up just thinking about the time we had there. Hopefully some of our athletes learned a thing or two about life and love. I know I sure did. We had such a wonderful time. I would like to thank all of the kids that went, and a huge thanks to Lana Dobson for being a chaperon. Hopefully we will get to do this for many years to come. All-State Performers

Congratulations to Sarah Koestner and Zach Bryant for being named All-State. Sarah placed 5th at the state track meet in the 1600m with a school record of 5:26.5. Zach placed 6th in the 3200m at 9:58.01. Congratulations goes out to all of the athletes this year. We had a great season and hopefully we will have many more All-Staters in the years to come. We just gettin' started.
A big congrats go out to Sarah and Zach, they performed their best when it counted, you guys did great.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crusader Classic

We took three athletes to the Crusader Classic on Saturday at Lincoln University and had some pretty good results. Sarah Koestner won the 1600 & 3200 with Hillary Gibson placing 7th in the 1600 and 6th in the 3200. Zach Bryant was 2nd in the 800. Great job to those athletes for doing so well the day after running in South Callaway.

Go Sarah Go!!!!!!!!

Congratulations to Sarah Koestner for breaking the school record in the 1600M last night at Fatima. She blew away the competition and ended up breaking the school record set by Becky Lister. Sarah ran a 5:35.2 and the record was a 5:35.9. Congrats to Sarah, you ran a great race! Keep up the good work.

Vienna Black and Gold Meet

Well you just never know what might happen at a track meet. Going into the meet I didn't think that we would challenge for the title, but as the events wore on, we were closing in on the leaders and before the last race we were down just 3 points. We did the best we could, but Vienna girls came out a little better than we did. We gave it our all, but came up just a little short. Overall I think we did a superb job with all of the events. We had Alex Earls that threw his PR in the Discus 127'9", about 7' shy of the school record. And the biggest suprise of the evening was Morgan Roberts jumping 15'2" in the long jump. She had only jumped in the 14' range once this entire season. Great job to all of the athletes, you did a great job.

Conference Champs!

Congratulations to the high school girls on winning the Show-Me Conference Track meet at Linn last night. This was the second year in a row that we have won the title. It was a total team effort, everyone did their best and we scored a win. I would also like to send out a congratulations to the Middle School girls as they also won the Show-Me Conference Track meet. Work Party!

Track meeting
