No 'All-Staters' but some good performances

Well we didn't get Zach or Miranda to become all-staters, but they did preform like champions in my book. Miranda finished 12th with the second best throw of her life, great job Randi. Zach had an awesome race in the 3200 Friday night and bettered his PR by 22 seconds to 10:08, any other year this would have made him all state in Class 2, this time would have won class 1. Zach had two races on Saturday including the 1600, and the 800. Zach ran a pretty good race for 3 laps them locked up and couldn't progress any more, he ended up 11. The 800 was the heartbreak race, going around the 200 meter mark in the 800, someone tripped him up and he landed on his shoulder, but knowing Zach, he got back up and finished the race. Good job Zach.

To Miranda and Zach, I am proud of each one of you, you did a great job this weekend. You represented the school and yourself very well. Thank you for all that you have done.

Another great meet, not 1st but a good 2nd place for the girls!

Well last night at the Blue and Gold Invitational at Fatima High School the girls didn't win, but we had come great performances. We set many personal records. The new pr's came from Wendy Weber in the 300 hurdles, Jessica Schrimpf in the 300 hurdles, Miranda Loesch in the Shot Put, the 4x200 relay team, the 4x800 relay team (they broke their own record), Hannah Schroeder in the 400, and also the 4x400 relay team. So all in all we had a pretty good meet. We had a top 6 finisher in every event except the triple jump and the pole vault. On the boys side we did our norm again, Zach Bryant won the 1600 and 3200, while Nathan Clink came home in 4th in the 3200. Not to shabby either. Great job to day.

What a Meet!

Well if you have not noticed we are having a great year. The girls as a team, have now won 6 of their 7 meets they have been in, and the boys have made great strides this year as well. And last night at the Vienna Invitational it was the same old, same old. The girls won again, and the boys did a fine job as well. It was kind of a crazy meet, with the last two events run in almost complete darkness. The two mile was cut short by a lap because of miscounting the laps. But overall it was another superb meet by your Russellville Indians. Go Big Blue! Here are the top eight results!

4 for 5 Not too Bad!

Wow! Last night was awesome. We thought that we had no way of winning because we knew North Callaway was a pretty darn good team and throughout the meet we were behind, but when all was said and done, the Russellville girls won it. Great job girls. Its amazing how many things you can learn about your athletes when you try them in different events, we had a girl that had to miss the meet and so we replaced her with another one that has never run the 400m and bam! Jessica P. did an amazing job coming around in 68 seconds. You go girl! We also had another new event at the meet, the sprint medley and we put a few different girls in that, and bam! here comes Allie R. in the 200 portion and smokes it. Great job Allie. We went to MSD looking for some answers and really all we got were some more puzzle pieces to play with. But that is not a bad thing, that is a great thing. This is what coaches live for. Now we also can't forget the boys. They did a pretty good job themselves. Out of 13 schools their, we finished 6th. Now that doesn't sound very good, but we only have 5 boys running on the team yesterday, which is pretty darn good. Zach had a great day winning the 800, 1600, and the 3200. Go Zach! We also had Alex E. place really well in the Shot and Discus. Great job all around to the Indian Track and Field Team.

Chalk up another W!

Well we did it again, last night at the Hermann Quad, we had two wins. The Varsity girls placed 1st and also the JV girls won. We did it all without the field events, as they were not run because of the rains that they had received. It was a late night but everyone did a great job. On the boys side, we only had 2 guys competing and Nathan Clink was outstanding, he won both the mile and the 2 mile races, finishing with a PR in both. Great job Nathan and all of the girls. Sunny, Cloudy, Sunny, Cloudy, Rainy, Cold & Rainy

That's what our meet was like yesterday. We were not for sure if it would happen at all with the weather forcast, but we arrived and it was a great day for a track meet, but as the meet went on the worse the conditions were. We did not get to complete the entire meet probably because the meet started about 30 minutes late for some unknown reason. Oh well. No matter the weather we did have a few good races. The first race of the day was one of the best. The 4x800 girls seemed to be shot from a cannon and they were at the lead for the 2nd and 3rd leg and finished a little behind Blair Oaks for second in a great time of 10:56. Great race girls. Another great race was Zach in the 1600. He ran a very smart race and took the lead on lap 4 and held on for the win, beating his arch nemisis Peanut. The 4x200, & 4x100 relay girls also did a great job. So here are the results. Our girls finished tied for 4th out of 21 teams, not bad but, hopefully if the meet were to be completed we should have moved up to 3rd. But we didn't and we are at 4th. Not too bad though.

Another win!

Well we went to Osage and did another great job. All of the girls have been working their tails off and it is showing early this season. Right now, most of the guys and girls are meeting their best marks from last year, meaning that they should be even better when the end of the season nears. I couldn't ask for a better team of runners and throwers, they are doing a great job. Here are the results from the meet we had at Osage.

First meet, First Win!

Well, last night we went to Fatima for a 6 team practice meet, and the girls came away with a victory. The team win is great and all, but they showed some pretty good times and most of the kids looked very strong. Despite having rain on our DIRT track almost everyday, we did exceptionally well. Our First Meet!

Well we are headed to our first meet today at Fatima, it is a little quad so it will be a great time to get some practice before our first medal meet of the year. Things have been going really good so far, except for mother-nature. Hopefully she will keep some of this precipitation for the summer months when we need some. Our team this year is fairly good sized, especially on the girls side, we have 25 girls but only 8 boys. The kids have been competing in practice trying to make it into the meets as only the fastest ones will make the team. But things are looking pretty darn good for us this year. Check back here for the results and hopefully some pictures. Have a great day.

Captains

The whole team voted for capitans for this year, and the results are in. Miranda, Zach, Allie, Calla, and Jessica S. are our capitans for the year. I know they will do a great job. Good luck to you all.

Only 1 Week

We have only one week until our first meet of the season. We have only been on the track one day this year so far. We are going to try and get on it this week. I still can't believe that in one week from today we are to be competing. Wow. Hopefully the weather will cooperate with us this week and we can get some great workouts in. Love ya all.

Assistant Coaches

If you have ever coached a sport, you know how much a good assistant is worth. Well I am so lucky to have one of those assistant coaches. Coach Craig Miller has been at my hip for 5 years and I must say they do not come any better. Craig is not in the education industry, but he puts all he has into the kids and the sport that he can. I can not thank him enough for all that he does. I know he will not like this post because of the praise for him. But THANK YOU for all you do Craig.
To all others have a great weekend.

Weather, Weather, Weather

We all know that the weather in the spring sports season is very unpredictable, well we can predict that the weather is unpredictable. Yesterday I was setting at home with the windows open and feeling the wonderful spring air, thinking man it would be nice to have a week of this, then i heard the weather report. Boy am I depressed. We are going to get tons of rain and even some snow. What a downer. So the weather will slow our progress a little, since our track is as muddy as my my dogs belly. Hope all is well with you.
